300 Pots Update

Hello from the Artist at 300Pots.com  I’m still here and I have been working on the 300 pots but I got side tracked by making some large pots for my other web sight DesignSensations.com

And I have also been giving pottery lessons a couple days a week.
I love teaching pottery to people. One of the Tea Pots in the background was made by a student.

I had a major breakdown and meltdown with my Raku kilns
My best kiln the oldest one went belly up and then my back up kiln melted down at the plug in.Right in the middle of a firing. That was a bad day of firing by the way. I had two pots explode. That means I had to wait for the kiln to cool down then clean and vacuum it out completely.
Then start over firing of curse the first one always takes two hours. So when the plug melted down that was an omen saying stop regroup and take a week off to get your equipment fixed up.

It cost 200 dollars to fix the small kiln at Clay Space in Eugene and 35 dollars for new plugs to get the other one to work.

So here it is 10 days later and I am posting this and thinking about getting started once again.
This fiasco has made me decide not to number the 300 pots any more. So now if pot 25 explodes I don’t have to make a new pot # 25 to replace it.

By for now

  1. I wish I had been one of your students. I wasn't impressed with my class in the spring, and my daughter, who minored in pottery, said I didn't learn because I wasn't taught right. I'll try again someday. Hope everything is working out better now!
